Lela Mae Johnson

Funeral services for Lela Mae Johnson, 95, of Chico will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2009 at Brusie Funeral Home. Mae passed away March 16, 2009 at her home. She was born on October 25, 1913 in Graham, Mo to Lee Charles and Rosa {Hayzlett} Wright. Mae graduated from Graham High School. She later married Robert Lee Johnson on December 26, 1942. Mae was a sales clerk and homemaker. Her memberships include the Venture Club, Las Senoras, First Christian Church and the "Lunch Bunch". She was a wonderful cook, homemaker wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Mae loved flowers and travel and her favorite color was pink. Mae is survived by her husband Robert of Chico; a daughter Nancy {Doug} Holmberg of Dorris, Ca; granddaughters Heidi {Mike} Carder of Citrus heights, Ca. and Heather {Ron} Criss of Dorris, Ca. and Holly {Jon} Dressell of Canyonville, Oregon; Great-grandchildren Nelson and Spenser Quinley of Citrus Heights, Ca., Mackenzie Hayden of Dorris, Ca., and Jarrett Dressell of Canyonville, Oregon, and a sister Patricia {Bill} Smith of Thousand Oaks, Ca.; Numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends Lucille Gaylord and Dorothy Ford. Mae is preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters and her parents. A viewing will be held on Friday, March 20, 2009 from 1-2 p.m. at Brusie Funeral Home.
