MANUEL GOMEZ " MANNY " Manuel Gomez "Manny" passed away Sunday, November 30, 2013 at his home here in Chico, he was 96. Born February 7, 1917 in Hilo, Hawaii to Anna Marquez and Manuel Gomez. He married the love of his life Catherine Serrano August 3, 1940. Manny was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He learned to play golf in his later years and enjoyed working in his yard. His family arrived in San Francisco when he was a year old . They settled in the Santa Clara Valley and he remained there until 1955 when he moved with his family to Chico. In 1982 he and his wife Catherine moved to Zephyr Cove at beautiful Lake Tahoe. In 1992 they returned to Chico. Manny was a member of Durham Rotary, and Chico Kiwanis Club. Manny is survived by his wife Catherine of Chico, and daughter Carolyn (Rick) Laffins of Chico, two grandsons their wives and 4 great -grandchildren all of Reno, Nevada. The Family wishes to thank Enloe Hospice, the staff at The Lodge at Sierra Sunrise Terraces, and especially the senior assistants who showed Manny so much kindness and care during his final days.
