Marie Nevis
d. Jan 1, 2001
Mary Nevis was born March 21, 1918 in Terceira, Azores to Maria and Alfredo Victorino. She was called to be with the Lord on June 28, 2010. Mary was raised in Terceira where she became a talented seamstress. Mary was a kind and thoughtful individual to all and she dearly loved children. She was a very hard worker, working alongside of her husband Tony in their almond orchard. She could make a dollar stretch unbelievably far. In the evenings she could be found crocheting.
Mary enjoyed traveling and fishing with Tony. Trips to Canada, Azore Islands, Portugal and Brazil were happy times for her. She was a proud member of the Portuguese community, a devoted member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and member of Ladies of Mt. Carmel.
Mary is survived by her sister, Alice Pacheco of Artesia; brother, Alfredo Victorino of Brazil; two nieces, and four nephews in Brazil. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Tony; her parents; brothers, John and Arnaldo Victorino and one nephew.
At Mary's written request, a private Mass of Christian Burial will be held for the family. Friends and family are invited to a Vigil Service at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 7 p.m.
Mary's family would like to thank Maria Vinely and Paula for giving such wonderful, loving care to Mary over the last five years. Also thank you to Enloe Hospice for their help and support in Mary's last days.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
