Marlene was Mother to her three children and a homemaker when she lived in Quincy and Plumas County.
In 1974 she relocated to the Sacramento area and earned her Real Estate License. She later moved to the San Jose area where she was employed by the Searle Pharmaceutical Company. After retiring from Searle in 1989, she moved to Chico, where she had lived as a child. In Chico she was employed by the Chico Chamber of Commerce and later went on to own and operate her own restaurant, "Lite & Luscious," in the Chico Mall.
Marlene was always active in volunteer projects and was a co-founder of several organizations that are still active today. The Quincy Trojan Booster Club, Bay Area Pharmaceutical Representatives Association and the Springfield Manor Homeowners Association were among those that she was involved with. She was also a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association in Chico. She had two favorite hobbies: reading and traveling. Some of her travels took her to the Orient, Bali, England, Tahiti, and the Great Plains of America.
