Patricia J. Lindsey
Sep 4, 1952 — Sep 16, 2016
Patricia (Trish, Trisha) Lindsey
9/4/1952--9/16/2016
Trish was born in Ukiah to Jim and Pennie Lindsey. She was singing before the age of one, and playing the piano while reading books by the age of seven.
After earning her Masters in Economics, she then practiced as an economist in the government and corporate sectors. Her teaching career began at Oregon State University in Corvalis, after she had earned her PhD in Ag Economics at U. C. Davis. She was honored there for her innovative teaching as Teacher of the Year. Trish next moved back to California with her son, Steven Ritter, and continued to teach Economics at both Chico State and Butte. In her next professional incarnation, Trish became a speech pathologist, after earning yet another Masters, and then practicing in the Chico area.
Trish truly lived! Whether as a daughter, sister, mother, auntie, friend, singer, dancer, artist, actor, composer, lover of babies, economist, professor, speech pathologist or maker of libraries (she created a total of 14 for the African Library Project), her big spirit brought her body along for the ride. Though from middle school on her body was not doing well, her mind was always acute, and she kept finding new doors to go through irrespective of her physical health issues. It seemed like everyone knew Trish, and Trish really knew everyone.
She is survived by her son Steven Ritter, her siblings Carleen Lindsey, Barbara Eding, Margaret Lindsey, and Terry Lindsey, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and countless friends.
We will miss her. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 24 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the ARC Pavilion, 2040 Park Ave. in Chico.
Donations can be made in her name to The African Library Project. (https://www. africanlibraryproject.org/)
