Rita Adams

Mar 22, 1945 — Sep 9, 2016

Rita Adams 1945-2016 Born on March 22nd in Indio, California, to the late Fred and Nellie Garcia, Rita left us peacefully on September 9th, 2016 in Chico, California, after a brief struggle with cancer. Rita was a very special mom, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, friend and co-worker. She was full of life and lived each day embracing her family time, her catholic faith and the simple things in life. She graduated from Indio High School in 1963, often attending all her High School Reunions, the last being her 50th in 2013. Rita met the love of her life, Clark Adams sailing in Newport Beach, dated for a few years then married in 1982 in Indio, California. They moved to Northern California where they enjoyed spending many hours of sailing, taking road trips in their Porsches, enjoying both the Sacramento and Reno Porsche Clubs, and supporting and watching her daughter Nicole play soccer for over 15 years. Rita traveled with Clark to Hong Kong, Taiwan, France and Switzerland, enjoying new adventures together all the time. Rita especially loved all her time spent with her daughter, Nicole and granddaughter, Mia. They spent their time laughing, shopping, going to church, watching movies, and cooking Family recipes together. Rita loved to share Family stories with Mia, volunteering in her classroom, playing games and reading. Their fondest moments were spent dancing together. They truly had a very special Grandma-Granddaughter bond like no other. Rita's love for the holidays, entertaining, reading, dancing, road trips, learning, and making our Garcia family tamales were shared with her family. The most special of these times was spending any day with Clark, Nicole and Mia as a family. She leaves them in the loving care of Brian Rose, Nicole's fiancé. Rita started working for Nevada County Sheriff's Department in 1993, working in different divisions as an Office Assistant in Support Family, Legal Process Clerk, and a Correctional Officer II. She then was hired with Placer County Sheriff's Department in 2001, where she worked out her classification as a Senior Administrative Legal Clerk. She was also used as a bilingual speaker in Spanish throughout her career. She took pride in her job and enjoyed working with her colleagues. After 15 years of dedication and tenure working for Nevada County and Placer County Sheriff's Department she decided to retire in 2008 so she could spend more time with her family. Rita is survived by her loving daughter, Nicole Rae Descombes, and granddaughter, Mia Ella Descombes. Preceded in death by her husband, Clark Adams and son, Michael Wade Watson. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held October 7th, 2016 at 10:30 a.m at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Chico, California, proceeding thereafter to Glen Oaks Memorial Park. A celebration of life will be held at 3135 Shallow Springs Terrace (Canyon Oaks gate code #8282). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Rita's memory made to Enloe Foundation, 249 W. Sixth Avenue, Chico, California 95926 - Attention: Cancer Compassion Fund.
