ROGER D. SAD
Roger D. Sad, 88, of Chico, Ca. passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, September 10, 2014. He died the way he wanted; at home, in his sleep, holding hands with wife and only son. Roger was born in the small town of Dazey, ND in 1926. Growing up during the depression made him always appreciate what he had, because he knew what it was like to have nothing. Roger was in the Army during the Korean War and came back to graduate from NDSU and never stopped being a Bison at heart. After moving to Crescent City, CA to be close to his sister Janis and mother Christine, it was there he fell in love with his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth, and had their son, Gregory. A few years later they relocated to Chico, where they lived the next 45 years. Over his career, Roger was an accountant at Standard Veneer Timber Co., NorCal Plywood Mill, and his last job was Controller at Royal Crown/Dr. Pepper Bottling Company in Chico, where he retired. Roger was an avid astronomer, enjoyed photography, had a passion for golf, was a voracious reader, and loved Giants baseball. Roger is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his son, Gregory and wife, Jane; stepdaughter, Nicole; and daughter- in- law Diane; grandchildren Brian, Andrew, Colin, Mike, Lisa, and Nick; great-grandchildren Autumn, Ben, Brianna, and Brigette; and brother Jonas. A memorial service will be held for Roger on Saturday, September 20 at 2pm at Glen Oaks Memorial Park in Chico. Condolences may be sent on line at Brusie FH. com
