Shirley Zirkle

SHIRLEY ANN MCNAIR ZIRKLE (MCCLELLAND) Shirley Ann McNair Zirkle (McClelland) passed quietly October 26, 2014 in Chico, CA due to complications following heart failure. She was 79. Shirley was born on November 26, 1934 in Creston, IA to her parents, Harold and Edna McClelland. She moved with parents and two sisters to California at the age of seven. She graduated from Chico High in 1953 and had recently celebrated at her 60th high school reunion. She married Harold McNair in 1954. Shirley had three children, Lloyd, George, and Kathy. Shirley was a devoted and supportive mother with a passion for life and loved to shop and laugh. She cared for her three children and spent many months near her oldest son at U.C. Medical Center in San Francisco. She worked at numerous odd jobs to support her three children. These jobs included sorting nuts at a local almond hauler, desk clerk for a local motel, cleaning homes and ironing shirts. Shirley is survived by her husband, James Zirkle, daughter, Kathy McNair of Chico, and son, Lloyd McNair of Cloverdale, CA, her sister and brother-in-law, Joy and Dale Wilson of Igo, brother-in-law Dave Davis of Chico, and three grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold, her sister, Muriel Davis, and her son, George McNair. Shirley will be cremated and a celebration of her life will be held at the Eagles Hall, November 8, 4pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Shirley' life.
