Stanley Willadsen
Feb 9, 1959 — Aug 23, 2018
After a long battle with cancer Stan passed away on August 23rd, 2018 at home in the arms of his devoted companion, Florenda. He was 59 years old.
Stan was born and raised in Chico, February 9, 1959 to Kathryn and Kenneth Willadsen. He attended Chico High School. Stan was a gifted musician, the electric guitar being his specialty. He bought his first guitar when he was in junior high school. It was his passion from that day forward. He played in local Chico bands from age fourteen, Habit being one of the first. He played in many different bands, wrote music, and sang throughout his lifetime. Originally in rock bands, he focused on blues in recent years. His bands were Boneyard Blues and Next Door Blues. He helped organize the Daily Blues sessions at Scottys. Well respected in the local music scene, there have been musical tributes to Stan in Chico, Paradise and Marysville since his passing.
Another passion of Stan's was modified stock car racing. He loved racing and built his own race cars, racing at Petaluma Raceway for years.
Stan was preceded in death by his brother Brian Willadsen. He is survived by his long-time companion Florenda Parker, Mother Kathryn Willadsen, brothers Ron Willadsen, Paul Willadsen (Gwen) and Philip Willadsen (Wanda), nephew Eric Willadsen (Janice), nieces Whitney Willadsen, Madison Hecker, and Shannon Frasier, Aunt Janet Stott, cousin Larry Willadsen and numerous other cousins.
Stan was a very kind, gentle, and warm-hearted man. He will be greatly missed by family, friends, and music fans. A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 6, 1:30 PM at Glen Oaks Memorial Park, location of reception following to be announced at the service.
