Susie O'Connor
d. Jan 1, 2001
Sue Rossi O'Connor passed away at the age of 96, on October 18, 2012. She was born in Kennet, California to August and Madalena Rossi on June 18, 1916. She married Vincent Rix O'Connor on December 12, 1937 and enjoyed almost 50 years of marriage. They raised their twin girls, Jane and Jean Rabo in Oakland, California, where Sue worked for Bank of America and was a homemaker. Vince worked for Emma Domb Dresses. They loved traveling to Calistoga and the west coast in the RV with their family. Jane and Jean attended CSU, Chico, met their spouses, Michael and David Rabo, and raised their families in Durham, California. Sue and Vince moved to Chico in 1979 to be closer to their family. Sue was an avid seamstress, Italian cook, and member of Our Divine Savior Catholic Church. Her family fondly remembers her Sunday Italian dinners and famous grilled cheese sandwiches. She loved being surrounded by family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very active and took part in all of their lives. Sue is preceded in death by her husband, Vince, and sister, Mary Brown. She is survived by her brothers, Augustus and Dario Rossi; her loving daughters, Jane and Jean Rabo; and sons-in-law, Michael and David Rabo. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Dina Rabo, Lisa Bender (Gretchen), Emily Headley (Andrew), Chris Rabo (Laurie), Angela Rabo, and Nicole Jarmush (Stephen); and seven great-grandchildren, Evan and Megan Rabo, Delia, Emma, and Clara Jarmush, Gracie Rabo, and David Bender. A rosary vigil service will be held at the Newman Center, 346 Cherry Street in Chico on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. and funeral services will immediately follow.
