Una Hargrove

Born into a California 49er family on January 28, 1914 in Stent, Tuolumne County, Calif. Una was the youngest of six girls to William and Margaret (Conner) Ordway. She passed May 6, 2009 in Sacramento, Calif. surrounded by family. At age five her family moved to Oakdale, Calif. She graduated high school there in 1932, and in 1936 married Haskell Hargrove and in 1938 they moved to Chico. In 1952 she and her sons joined Haskell in Saudi Arabia where they resided until retirement, and then in 1968 they returned to their almond ranch in Chico. Una was a life member of the Annie K. Bidwell Parlor of the Native Daughters of the Golden West, Eagles Auxiliary, Beulah Rebecca Lodge and the Chico PTA. She is preceded in death by Haskell, her husband of 62 years, parents, five sisters and an infant granddaughter. Una is survived by sons, Rod (Dixie) of Oroville, Gerald (Laurel) of Sacramento, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday May 14, 2009 at 1:00 pm at Brusie Funeral Home.
