Valerie Parker

VALERIE PARKER Valerie Parker, age 73, died of cancer on June 7, 2016 in Oroville, CA. Valerie is survived by son Joe McDaniel, Chico; son Tony McDaniel, Yuba City, son Ezra McDaniel, Chico; daughter Dena Brass of Yuba City; son David Taylor, Dixon; and daughter, Tracy Taylor, Chico. Valerie was born on January 20, 1943 in Hopewell, Mississippi to parents Charlie and Velma Macakabee. She later moved to Chico as a young adult where she started her family. Valerie was a loving wife and a caring mother. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family and friends will always remember her as a fun and loving person. Valerie worked for over 40 years as a CNA caring for others. She would tell you her best job ever was caring for her dad, Charlie Mackabee. A funeral is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the Bethel AME Church on 6/23/2016 with a reception to follow at Bethel AME, 821 Linden St., Chico. Kathy James and Kim James will officiate.
