Walter Wright
d. Jan 1, 2001
A graveside service will be held Monday, August 4, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Glen Oaks Memorial Park in Chico for Walter J. Wright. Mr. Wright passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at a local care facility; he was 83.
Born February 1, 1925 in Los Angeles, Calif. to Lloyd and Effie Wright, he graduated from Franklin High School in Los Angeles. He served in World War II and Korea in the Air Force, serving in the European Theater. He flew 91 Combat missions and was highly decorated.
He married his wife Rhea in 1952 in Glendale, Calif. and they had 56 wonderful years together.
Walt worked primarily in the steel trades, retiring in 2001 after working for Metal Air Works in Chico for 20 years, loving every minute of it and the people he worked with there. He also was a surveyor for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and Construction Inspector for the State of Washington for six years.
Walt loved working on motorcycles, working in his garden, working at his work bench in the garage, and he loved the out of doors; he loved fishing and was very devoted to his family. Walt was an uncommonly kind and gentle man, who truly exemplified the Christian ideal.
Walt is survived by his wife, Rhea; his son, Daniel; his daughter, Deborah; and his two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wally in 1966.
