Betty Jean Weiss
May 29, 1948 — Jul 22, 2017
Betty Jean Weiss, 69, passed away on July 22, 2017 in Molalla, Oregon. She was born on May 29, 1948 to Charles and Jean Roberts in Forest Grove, Oregon. After marrying Richard John Weiss, the couple was blessed with the birth of two sons; Ted Joseph Weiss, and Jason Todd Weiss. They moved their family from the outer SE Portland area in the early ‘70’s to the Molalla area, for which the family was most grateful. Betty and Richard were part of a larger “Back to the Land” movement – a return to some degree of subsistence farming and a measure of self-reliance. She became a naturally masterful gardener, tending a myriad of house plants. She canned vegetables from her extensive garden, baked bread, raised chickens, and grew flowers. Betty loved photography and was quite gifted in seeing and capturing beauty. She was creative, generous, energetic, intuitive, resourceful, and independent. Music was also important; the family listened to and eclectic collection that provided a soundtrack for the children’s early lives – a gift Betty gave them that they still enjoy. Later, Betty Mett Francis A. Hittner, with whom she shared her life for 19 happy years. Betty was preceded in death by her father, Charles Murray Roberts, sister; Teri Secanti and companion Francis A. Hittner. She is survived by her sons; Ted Joseph and Jason Todd, mother Jean Boyd, brothers, Fred Secanti, Shawn Roberts, and Dale Boyd.
