Feb 15, 1929 — Oct 8, 2011
Retired dentist Carroll Llewellyn “Bud” Hibbard, of Molalla, died October 8, 2011, at the age of 82. He was born February 15, 1929, to Mabel and King Hibbard and grew up in Burns. He attended Burns High School, Northwest Nazarene College, and the University of Oregon and graduated from the University of Oregon dental Scholl in 1955. He served as a captain and dentist in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. After the service, he joined the Peace Corps and served as a dentist in Malaysia for two years. He then traveled the world, including the Middle East and Europe. He then flew to New York and drove across the country and began to practice dentistry with his father in Burns. He then opened a new practice in Portland where he met his future wife, Velma Newcom. They married June 25, 1967. He continued practicing dentistry in Portland, Hubbard, and Woodburn and lived in Canby a number of years. He retired in 2001. A member of the Nazarene Church, he was also a member of Kiwanis as well as lifetime member of the Oregon Dental Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and flying, often flying his Super Cub to the Steen Mountains for the fall hunting season and fishing in the summer. He also enjoyed repairing things around the house, trimming fruit trees, and rebuilding an airplane from the ground up. He is survived by his wife Velma, their five children, and 10 grandchildren. A memorial service was held on October 13, 2011 at the Molalla Church of the Nazarene. Molalla Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
