Dave Douwe Jorritsma
May 6, 1927 — Feb 14, 2018
Dave Douwe Jorritsma passed away peacefully on Valentine's Day at the age of 90. He was born May 6, 1927 to Ruurd and Griet Jorritsma in Exmorra, The Netherlands. In the early years Douwe worked with his father in the family butcher shop and dairy farm. While serving in the Dutch army he met the love of his life, Feikye (Faye). They married in 1951 and soon began a new life by moving to America. In Southern California he worked long hours at a local dairy as a milker. Soon he built a reputation of being trustworthy and dependable, which in turn brought him much respect. Family soon came. Son Rudy was born in 1952 and son Frank in 1960. In 1970 the family moved to Aurora, Oregon to begin a family dairy. Retired, he and Faye continued to live on the old farm which still exists. Together they took many trips to Holland and Jasper B.C. Jasper became one of their favorites. He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother Otto. Dave is survived by his wife Faye, sons Rudy and Frank, daughter in law Terry Jorritsma (Pahl). Dave enjoyed reading, telling stories and watching his favorite red rose bush bloom each spring. A very loving and caring husband and dad to the very last days. He was well like by all and will be missed. A family viewing was held at Canby Funeral Chapel on February 22, 2018, followed by burial at Champoeg Cemetery. No service was held at his request.
