Dorothy Ann Rodney
Mar 31, 1938 — Jul 6, 2017
Dorothy passed away peacefully at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was 79. Dorothy was tremendously blessed with loved ones by her side during her last days of life. Dorothy was born on March 31, 1938 in Portland, Ore., to her parents, Alfred Frank Davison and Dorothy Page. Dorothy lived in Portland until 2006. Dorothy married the love of her life, James "Jim" Rodney Aug. 17, 1991. During this time, Jim and Dorothy built their dream home off of Sunnyside Road in Happy Valley. When they moved to Molalla in 2006, on the "Rodney Ranch", Dorothy was able to fulfill her dream of having horses. Having at one time more than 30 horses kept Dorothy very busy. Dorothy achieved Multi PTHA World Champion titles with cart driving "Cedars Silver Onyx", her beloved horse. She sponsored many Oregon Pinto classes and Futurities over the years. Dorothy also bred many quality Pinto ponies, miniatures and Saddle bred horses. Dorothy was awarded a lifetime membership to Pinto Horse of America for her lifelong dedication and promotion of the breed. Dorothy was a talented and courageous woman. Dorothy was an incredibly generous woman, always giving to others. Her joy in life was to make others happy and to take care of her horses. She was an incredibly strong and stubborn soul even during her last days. She often made the statement "Stay in your truck, I will take care of it!" This is a true statement of her character and the reason so many loved her. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, James "Jim" Rodney; her two children, Bob Mack and Tammy Bader; and step-children, James and Michael Rodney. Dorothy had five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Dorothy extended her love to so many others, treasuring each and every one of them. She would always say, "They adopted me and I adopted them." A private memorial service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery on July 27, 2017. There will be a reception following the service at the Rodney Ranch. The family requests in lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation in her honor to ASPCA or a charity of your choice. Memorial service arrangements provided by Molalla Funeral Home. "Always in our hearts…" Rest in Peace
