Duncan Alastair Ward
Dec 30, 1995 — Jul 2, 2017
Duncan Alastair Ward died unexpectedly on July 2, 2017 in Canby, Oregon at age 21. Born Dec 30, 1995 in Oregon City to parents David W. Ward & Jennifer Gorski, Duncan was beloved by his family. He was playful, polite, loyal and honest. You could count on him to keep his word. Duncan enjoyed getting together on the annual Gorski family vacations. He loved cats and was called the “feline overlord.” He attended Ninety-One Elementary School, Ackerman Middle School, Canby High School, Clackamas Community College, and the University of Oregon. Duncan worked at West Linn Paper Mill, had internships at NAMSA, a medical research organization, and was a volunteer at BLM Horning Tree Seed Orchard. Duncan was talented and creative, excelled at art & music, played 14 different instruments, and participated in several bands at Canby HS, including the marching band and wind ensemble. He continually challenged himself, particularly in art, trying new techniques. He was mechanically inclined and intuitively knew how to disassemble and reassemble something completely. He always strived for excellence and had incredible will-power. Survived by his brother, Korik, half-sisters Fawn Brubaker and Tamila Fiola, parents David W. Ward, and Jennifer Gorski, and multiple loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Services will be held on Sunday, July 9th at 3pm at Canby Funeral Chapel, 160 South Grant St, Canby. Memorial contributions can be made to Duncan Ward Scholarship Fund, Canby High School, and sent to Canby School District, Attn: Caryn Davis, 1130 S Ivy Street, Canby OR 97013.
