John Paul Overton

John Paul Overton, 93, of Canby, Oregon, passed from this life to his eternal home with God on Thursday, September 3, 2026.

John was born on October 30, 1932, to Tom and Ida Overton, in Dickson, Tennessee.

He worked in construction, joined the US Army and then moved to California where he became a police officer for the El Segundo Police Department. He later moved to Eugene, Oregon, where he raised a family and served his church and his community as a Lane County Deputy Sheriff.

John is survived by his children: Brenda (Jeff), Vickie (Dean), Kevin; his grandchildren: Jennifer, Joshua, Justin, Janelle, Kirsten, Emily; and 15 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by 2 sisters, Martha Nell and Florine. He was predeceased by his wife, Charlotte Johnson Overton.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Canby Church of Christ (515 NW 4th Ave) on September 12, 2026, at 10 AM.  A graveside service will be held on October 10, 2026, in Dickson, Tennessee, at Rock Church Cemetery.
