Karen Kathleen Liles - Allphin

Dec 21, 1940 — Jun 7, 2018

Karen Kathleen Liles-Allphin was born in Los Angeles, California, December 21st, 1940. She endured the roughest of beginnings with her sister Denise Michele, until they were adopted at a young age by Lowell Garland and Maybelle Eulalia Wolfe. After Lowell's untimely death, the girls were raised by Maybelle as a single mother. Karen, sustained by her faith in God, overcame it all. The tragic losses from her early years motivated her desire to build a loving family. In 1957 Karen married David William Liles and achieved just that. In turn, Karen gave birth to Stephen, Aline (Boohm), David, and Kevin. In 1968 the Liles family moved from California to Washington state, where Aaron was born. Finally, they relocated to Oregon where Ethan and Raina (Kunz), were added to the family. It is also there that her first marriage ended. In 1985 Karen met, and on May10th 1987 married the great love of her life Chris Allphin and shortly after moved to their home in Monitor, Oregon where they remained until her passing 31 years later. Karen and Chris's home was always open to family, friends and even strangers who needed a place to stay or a decent meal. Let us not forget the menagerie of pets and stray animals that her soft heart could not turn away. Their home will be remembered as a place of love and care. Karen was inspired by the beauty of God's creation and thoroughly enjoyed her many years of country living. She loved the ocean, music and dancing, babies and animals, reading and playing games with her family. She especially loved the fiercely competitive games of Pictionary and Guesstures which often waged into the wee hours. Karen (mom to so many), will be missed by everyone who knew her especially her loving husband Chris, her six surviving children, 24 Grandchildren, and 12 Great Grandchildren, all her nephews, nieces and extended family bound by blood or love. She is survived by these and her eldest brother Lyle Thompson Rumsey Jr. of Lake Havasu, AZ. She looked forward to being reunited with Aline, her eldest daughter, Denise her sister and a host of others. We are confident that she is being comforted by Jesus and finally free of pain. A memorial service was held in Karen's honor at 2:00p.m. on July 7th, 2018.
