Keith Reginald Jensen

Keith Reginald Jensen passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026, at Hope Village at the age of 94, surrounded by compassionate caregivers who treated him with kindness, dignity, and respect during his final days.

Born on May 18, 1932, in Portal, North Dakota, Keith lived a life defined by service, perseverance, and a steadfast belief in the potential of others. Before dedicating his life to education, he proudly served his country in the United States military, an experience that helped shape the discipline, resilience, and sense of responsibility that became hallmarks of his character.

For many, Keith will always be remembered simply as "Coach" or "Mr. Jensen."

As a teacher, coach, mentor, colleague, and friend, Keith devoted his career to helping young people discover what they were capable of becoming. He believed success was earned through hard work, determination, personal responsibility, and refusing to quit. Whether in the classroom, on the athletic field, or through a quiet conversation with a student who needed encouragement, Keith challenged others to believe in themselves and to always give their very best.

His influence reached far beyond grades, wins, or championships. He taught character. He taught perseverance. He taught that setbacks are temporary and that integrity matters. Long after students graduated, many continued to carry those lessons with them throughout their lives.

Following his passing, our family was deeply touched by the countless stories shared by former students, athletes, colleagues, neighbors, and friends. Again and again, people spoke of the encouragement Keith gave them, the confidence he inspired, and the difference he made during pivotal moments in their lives. Those memories have become one of the greatest gifts to our family and a beautiful reminder that a life devoted to serving others leaves an extraordinary legacy.

Keith also found great joy in the communities that became his home. He loved Molalla, cared deeply for animals, and treasured the friendships he formed at the Canby Senior Center. In his later years, he especially appreciated the kindness shown to him by friends, neighbors, and the remarkable caregivers at Hope Village.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Ezra Jensen and Bessie Anderson Jensen; his sister, Joyce Jensen; and his wife, Caroline Heinz Nelson.

He is survived by his daughters, Keirene Jensen Miller and husband, Bob Miller, and Karyn Jensen Gibbons and husband, Rob Gibbons; his grandchildren, Aaron Josten and husband, Jason Trimbo; Kalee Gibbons; Melissa Gibbons; and Jennifer Gibbons McGann and husband, Kole McGann; his cherished great-grandchildren, Griffin McGann and Kollins McGann; and countless former students, athletes, colleagues, neighbors, and friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

Our family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Hope Village for the compassionate care, dignity, and kindness they showed Dad during his final days. Their support brought comfort not only to him, but to all of us.

A Celebration of Life honoring Keith will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Canby Senior Center. Family, friends, former students, athletes, and colleagues are warmly invited to join us as we celebrate a life dedicated to teaching, coaching, mentoring, and making a difference.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Keith's memory may be made to the ASPCA, the Oregon Humane Society, the Molalla Union High School Alumni Association, or the Canby Senior Center, honoring the causes that were closest to his heart.

Keith's greatest legacy is not measured simply by the years he lived, but by the lives he helped shape.

His message was simple and enduring:

Work hard. Do your best.  Never quit.

Those words continue to live on in the hearts of the many people whose lives he touched.

Well done, Coach. Well done, Teacher.  Well done, Dad.
