Kurt F. Hansen

Kurt F. Hansen 67, of Portland, Oregon passed away Sunday June 13, 2021 after a brief illness. Born in San Francisco on September 30, 1953 he graduated in 1975 with a forest management and naval science degree from OSU before entering active duty with the U.S. Navy for 4 years. After his active duty was over, he stayed in the Navy Reserve for the next 30 years, finally retiring a Captain. Kurt initially joined a lumber firm in Anderson, California before deciding to go to U of O Law School. Before graduating from law school in 1984, he was hired as a law clerk by the Portland firm of Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt. Kurt would stay with Schwabe after graduation and would spend his career with the firm. Over the years with Schwabe he held several management positions and for the past many years was General Counsel to the firm. While still at Schwabe, Kurt would be called back to active duty with the Navy twice during the Iraq War. On his last deployment he was sent to Iraq for 2 years. Kurt was proceeded in death by his parents Art and Ruth Hansen, his second wife Diana Hansen and his niece, Katie Hansen. Kurt is survived by his wife Gloria, her son Michael (Jessica) Balaban, their 2 children Benjamin and Sofia, brother, Martin (Marie) Hansen, his niece Molly Walker (Kyle) and their 3 children, Michaela, Landry and Clara.
