Richard Arthur Moore
Sep 5, 1926 — Apr 1, 2012
Richard Arthur Moore, Sr. September 5, 1926-April 1, 2012 Dick Moore passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2012 He was born in Munsing, Michigan, to Henry Dewey Moore and Rachel Moore, Rachel Anderson. He grew up in Racine, Wisconsin, where he attended the Horlick High School. When World War II began, he decided to postpone his education, and at the age of 17, joined the US Marine Corps. He served in the Pacific Theatre for the duration of the War and was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal. During his USMC training he earned the MC Rifle Sharpshooter Badge which he cherished dearly. After the War, he returned to Racine and married his high school sweetheart, Louise Mascaretti-the marriage lasted his lifetime. He completed his education, which included two years of college, and set out West to seek his fortune. After a brief stay in Arizona and Wyoming (he was a radio announcer in Rock Springs), he took his family to Salem, Oregon, where he started a new career as an agent for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. After numerous relocations, he returned to Oregon as the District Manager for the Metopolitan-a position which he held until his retirement in 1982. That year he started his own successful Insurance and Financial Planning business. Dick enjoyed boating and fishing, and he loved RV travels with Louise. He leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Louise; sister Donna, three sones, Rick, Ron and Roger; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and numerous loving family members and friends.
