Deborah Dragotta

Jul 2, 1953 — May 17, 2016

Deborah (Debbie) Ann Dragotta, 62, of Longmont, CO, died peacefully in her sleep at home, surrounded by her loving family, Tuesday, May 17, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. She was born on July 2, 1953 in Longmont, CO to Cleo (Sanchez) Cortez and Charles R. Cortez. Debbie was a pre-school teacher who touched many generations with her loving way of teaching. She brought joy to everyone who crossed her path. She not only welcomed her students; but also welcomed their families into hers. Family was always her first priority. In school, sports and in life. If you were family, and everyone was, she gave you 100% support. Some would say she went overboard with spoiling you; but she would immediately correct those who thought this by saying, “NO, they are not spoiled just extra loved”. To Debbie, you could never extra-love someone too much. Debbie had many special names, Momma, Mom, Grandma, Granny, Grammy, Gus Gus, G-Nator, G-Deb, Sissy, Corney, Yah, Auntie, Nana, Nina, Deb-Deb, Ms. Deb, and Ms Debbie. She wore each name proudly, like a crown on a Queen. Debbie loved her sports. You could find her chilling on the couch or sitting in the stands cheering on her Colorado Rockies. She wasn’t a bandwagon fan, she loved them regardless of the win loss column. In the fall you would find her with all her loved ones on Bronco game day with her blue and orange blinged out nails along with her pestering us to put her Coors Lite in the freezer at halftime to prep for the fourth quarter. What a blessing it was watching her see her Broncos win a SuperBowl this past year with all her loved ones gathered round. Then as winter would approach you would see her throw on her Nuggets gear to cheer on a team that tended to frustrate her week after week. Although she loved her professional sports, nothing beat her all time favorite teams the Skyline Falcons, Longmont Trojans, Silver Creek Raptors, Longmont Shooting Stars, Longmont Lightning, Airborne Gymnastics, Silver Creek Rush, Mullen Mustangs, Horizon Hawks and many more. She loved these teams the most due to the special people she was there to cheer on. She was her kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, and cousins number one fan. At those games she was easy to spot in her bedazzled SUPERFAN shirts and you better believe she had one for every team. Her proudest moment as being everyone’s number one fan came when her eldest grandson, Chico won the high school state championship in football. She loved talking about it and bragged to everyone and anyone about those 2012 Raptors. She leaves behind so many members who extra-loved her right back, her daughters, Alysia Rose, (Ricky Grine) and Dominica Renee. Her grandchildren, Aeshia Grine, Chico Grine, Gabriel Dragotta, and Kai Grine. Her brother, Charles R. Cortez Jr, (Mary Ann) and two sisters, Susan M. Cortez and Terri L. Cortez. 4 nieces, 6 nephews, 6 great-nieces, and 2 great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Cleo S. and Charles R. Cortez, her sister, Dolores L. Gonzales, Brother-in-law, Joey D. Gonzales and one niece, Evelyn L. Gonzales. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm, - 6:00 pm, Monday, May 23, 2016, Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Home Chapel, 503 Terry St., Longmont, CO. Recitation of the Rosary will follow at 6:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm (noon) Tuesday, May 24, 2016, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 323 Collyer St., Longmont, CO.
