Donna Saxton-Potts

Aug 29, 1956 — Mar 3, 2026

We are sad to announce the passing of Donna Saxton-Potts. Donna was born on August 23,1956 and passed away on March 3, 2026.  Born the second of three children, Donna grew up with a spirited love for activity, competition, and connection that stayed with her throughout her life.

Donna attended Arvada West High School, graduating in 1974. During her school years, she was deeply involved in athletics and school spirit, participating in girls’ basketball and volleyball and proudly serving as a cheerleader for the boys’ basketball team. From an early age, Donna embraced life with enthusiasm—she loved racing, waterskiing, sports, dancing, and playing the typical childhood games that brought joy and laughter.

Donna met the love of her life, Michael Potts, while both were working at Longmont Ford—Donna in fleet management and Mike in sales. As Michael fondly shared, they “hit it off right away” and went on to enjoy many happy years together. Donna and Mike were married on June 26, 1999, at American Legion Post #78. Their marriage was built on friendship, laughter, and deep affection.

Donna was a special woman with a rare gift for connection. She had a warm, engaging personality and a way of conversing that made everyone feel seen and valued. She left lasting impressions wherever she went and became not only a beloved spouse, but also a best friend to those closest to her. She was loving, caring, compassionate, and understanding, and she will be deeply missed.

Donna is survived by her loving husband, Michael Potts; her brother Jay W. Saxton Jr. and his spouse Melody; her sister Mary Newman and her husband Mike; her nephews David Newman, Michael Newman, Grand-Nieces: Reese Newman, Brynn Newman, and Nova Lynn Newman.

A memorial service will be held on March 27th at 2:00 p.m. at American Legion Post 32, located at 315 S. Bowen Street, Longmont, Colorado. The service will be officiated by Michael J. Newman.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Longmont, an organization reflecting Donna’s compassion and love for living beings.

Donna’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her presence will be forever felt in shared stories, loving memories, and the enduring love she gave so freely. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Longmont Humane Society.
