Flora Romero

Flora Romero, of Longmont, CO, died peacefully on December 23, 2016 at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was 74. She will be remembered for her compassion, integrity and faith. Flora was born July 22, 1942 in Ponderosa, NM to Arturo and Pauline Maestas. She grew up in Johnstown, CO and moved to Longmont in 1960. On December 29, 1962, she married Bentura “Benny” Romero in Longmont, CO. They were married for 54 years. Flora followed in her mother’s footsteps as a wonderful homemaker, cook and seamstress. While she and Benny raised their family, she helped raise many other children through her caring and nurturing babysitting jobs. She enjoyed going to family gatherings, bingo, music, dancing, gambling in Central City, fishing at Beaver Lake and of course cooking and baking for her family. Flora was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband, Bentura Romero, Longmont; Sons, Benny (Chris) Romero, Denver, Jeffrey (Sheri) Romero, Longmont, Andrew (Leslee) Romero, Thornton; Daughter, Audrey (Christi) Romero, Aurora; Brothers, Art Maestas, Ivan (Paula) Maestas, Andy (Pam) Maestas; Sisters, Beunallah Meastas, Eufamia (Albert) Ornales, Cecilia Warren, Pauline (Bob) Flori; Grandchildren, Sandra “Pebbles” Hope Tathem, Garrett Alcala, Jeffrey Jerry “JJ” Romero; Great Grandchildren Jaidyn Burrus, Mila Burrus; numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and God Children. Flora was preceded in death by her parents. A Visitation to include a Eulogy will be held from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, with Recitation and Rosary at 6:00 pm, Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Home Chapel, 503 Terry St. Longmont, CO. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, December 30, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 323 Collyer St. Longmont, CO.
