James “Pat” Parker passed away on June 17, 2013 after a long battle with Acute Pulmonary Fibrosis. Pat was born in 1945 to Thomas and Ruth Parker in Hayden, CO.
Being a loving husband, father and grand-father, he dedicated his life to his family, providing and leading with a kind but firm hand. In his youth, Pat spent much time on the land farming and learning all he could from those willing to spare a few moments of wisdom. Pat met Sharon in fifth grade at Lincoln School in Erie. They were married on August 17, 1963 and, together, they raised a family and would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in August. Pat attended Erie Jr./Sr. High School and the Emily Griffith opportunity program as a sheet metal apprentice going on to complete, and retire from, 32 years of service with the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 9. Once retired, he and his wife spent many months traveling all over the US. They lived in Green Valley,AZ for twelve years (1999 to 2011) where, during the winter months, he volunteered, and was highly regarded, as a Docent of the Titan Missile Museum. Pat enjoyed meeting and spending time with friends and family and will be missed by many from all over the United States and abroad.
Pat is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; three sons, Loren of Longmont, James (Cindy) of Tucson, AZ, and Don of Longmont; one brother, Tom of Wiggins, CO and one sister, Linda Sorrentino of Idaho Springs, CO. Grandchildren are Jenna, Christopher and Christina.
Pat is preceded in death by both parents, a brother Quinton and one sister, Sharon Johnson.
Public visitation will be Friday, June 21,2013 at Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Home, 503 Terry Street, Longmont, CO 80501 from 2pm-4pm. Interment will be at Erie’s Mount Pleasant Cemetery at a later date.
A Celebration of Pat’s life will be held at Hover Manor’s Second Floor Sylvan Café, 1401 Elmhurst Drive, Longmont, 80503 on Saturday, June 22, 2013 from 1:30 to 3:30pm. Friends and family are welcome to share their condolences, moments and memories of Pat.
