John A Fallon

John A. Fallon, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and advocate for those affected by Alzheimer's disease, passed away December 15, 2025.

Born on November 30, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois, to Russell S. and Allyce (Brown) Fallon, John grew up with a deep appreciation for the outdoors. In 1950, he met Diane “Dibbie” Brunelle, the love of his life, and they married on September 15, 1962. Together, they built a family of five children while living in Elmhurst, Illinois.

John instilled in his children a passion for nature through camping trips and visits to national parks. His frequent family vacations to Colorado inspired a life-changing move to Longmont in May 1977, where he could enjoy the Rocky Mountains right in his backyard—a treasure he cherished deeply.

At age 50, John returned to school, earning a Master's Degree in Social Work. He dedicated many years to counseling others and founded a support group in Longmont for caregivers of loved ones with Alzheimer's disease, a cause close to his heart after losing his mother to the illness.

In 2001, John and Dibbie semi-retired, spending summers working in Yellowstone National Park and winters in Death Valley, California. Living simply in their fifth-wheel camper, they embraced the adventure and formed lasting friendships—these were among the happiest years of their lives.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Allyce Fallon; his son, John R. “Spike” Fallon; and his daughter, Kathleen Knutson.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years, Diane “Dibbie” Fallon; sister Susan Jones; son Mike (Lisa) Fallon; daughter Jackie (Scott) Evans; daughter Barbara (Harvey) Mathewes; ten grandchildren: Kelsey, Ian, Sam, and Kate Fallon; Brittany and Bradley Knutson; Stephanie DeHart and John Mathewes; Christine and Brandon Evans; and five great-grandchildren: Crew Fallon, Willow DeHart, and Owen, Oakley, and Odeya Mathewes.

A Celebration of Life will be held in John's memory on Friday, January 16th, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Light of Christ ECC located at 1000 15th Ave, Longmont.
