Joseph Edward August

Oct 12, 1943 — Sep 19, 2026

Joseph "Joe" August, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, lifelong learner, and US Navy veteran, passed away peacefully on September 19th, 2026, at the age of 82.

Joe was known for his sharp intellect, wicked sense of humor, and deep curiosity about the world around him. A self-taught computer programmer, he possessed a remarkable ability to master complex technologies and taught himself programming languages and databases. He approached every challenge with determination, patience, and an eagerness to learn.

Outside of his professional interests, Joe found great joy in his hobbies. He was a devoted enthusiast of model trains, appreciating the craftsmanship and detail they required. He was also an avid fan of war movies and history, often sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with family and friends.

More than any accomplishment, Joe was proud of his family. His family was the center of his life, and he took great pride in watching each generation grow and thrive.

Those who knew Joe will remember his quick wit, clever observations, and ability to bring laughter to any gathering. His humor, kindness, and wisdom touched countless lives and created memories that will be treasured forever.

Joe is survived by his spouse Dianne August, his five children Matthew, Jennifer, Michael, Megan, and Brooke, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by former spouse Marilyn August, parents Joseph August Sr and Stasia August, and sister Jane Wechsler.

A service celebrating Joe's life will be held at Calvary Derby Hill, 207 19th St SE, Loveland, CO 80537 on 10/12/26 at 2pm. Family and friends are invited to attend and share memories of a man whose life was marked by curiosity, laughter, and love.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Leukemia Research Foundation (https://leukemiarf.org/), or that loved ones honor Joe's memory by learning something new, sharing a laugh, or spending time with family.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

"A life measured not only by years, but by the knowledge shared, laughter given, and love left behind."
