Kenneth Lee "Ken" Roth
Jan 29, 1931 — Nov 28, 2021
Tribute
Kenneth “Ken” Roth was born at home in Alma, Kansas on January 29, 1931. As he wished he passed at home with family caring for him and took the hand of his Savior, Jesus Christ early Sunday morning on November 28, 2021, at the age of 90. He was one of the youngest out of nine siblings and preceded in death by his parents, William and Hermine Roth, and his siblings: Milton, Clara, Elenore, Virginia, LaVaughn, Eugene, and Reverend William Roth.
He married Evelyn Heath in 1957 and they had five children. Ken is survived by his five children Kenneth Roth Jr., Angela Kennedy, Gail (Bret) Spencer, Bill (Tracie) Roth, Jon (Dawnia) Roth, and his youngest brother Reverend Delbert (Vi) Roth of Hickory, NC. Grandchildren Sara (Mike) Schreiner, Austin Kennedy, Malanie Roth, Lauren Roth, Cami Kennedy, Julie Roth, and Jackson Roth. Great granddaughters Ayva and Elena Schreiner as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He moved from KS to Chambers, NE in 1938 and graduated high school in Seward, Nebraska.
He enlisted in the Navy in 1951 and retired a Senior Chief Petty Officer in 1972. While in the Navy he traveled the world. A highlight he often spoke about was being assigned to the USS Enterprise and being a plank owner to serve and put the first nuclear aircraft carrier in commission in 1961. He also recruited in Boulder during Vietnam.
Ken enjoyed lots of camping and boating trips with his family and friends and making little rockets to set off along with fireworks on the 4th of July. He taught his children/grandchildren and those that wanted to bike ride, go-cart, mini-bike, motorcycles, and a mobility scooter. Not perfect by any means, he impressed upon his children and often those he interacted with his faith in the Lord and Savior.
In lieu of flowers please donate to Messiah Lutheran Church for the needy during the holidays.
