Norma Angelica Valdez
d. May 1, 2026
Norma Angelica Valdez, was a devoted and nurturing wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sibling and godmother. It is with a heavy heart that we announce her passing on May 1, 2026, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was surrounded in love by her dear family as she took her last breath.
Norma was born on April 26, 1966, in Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Amalio and Irma Garcia.
Norma graduated from Roosevelt High School in Johnstown, Colorado, in 1984, where she was an active cheerleader and known for her spirited personality and love for life. During her high school years, she met the love of her life, Rene Valdez. Their young love became a lifelong commitment when they married on November 6, 1982, in Platteville, Colorado. Norma was 16 and Rene was 17 — a true testament to the vows they made when they said “I do.”
Norma found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved going “up the mountain” to gamble, shopping for anything and everything, and taking peaceful walks around McIntosh Lake in Longmont. She enjoyed dancing and spending Sundays at mom’s with Family. Her greatest joy of all was spending time with her grandchildren near and far.
Above all else, Norma loved her family fiercely. She was the rock of the family — the one who planned gatherings, handed out gifts at Christmas, and made sure everyone felt loved and together. Her warmth, strength, laughter, and unwavering devotion will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
Norma is survived by her loving husband, Rene Valdez; her mother, Irma Garcia; her children, Chris, Rene, Samantha, and Bianca (PJ) Castanon; and her cherished grandchildren, Angel, Dezika, Malia, Mirage, Amaya, and Manolo. She is also survived by her siblings: Mario (Stephanie) Garcia, Christina (Juan) Garcia – De la Cruz, Javier Garcia, Luis (Tonee) Garcia, and Rosi (Gabino) Macias. Norma was preceded in death by her father, Amalio Garcia, and her oldest daughter, Angelica Vanessa Valdez.
A viewing will be held on May 14, 2026, at Grace Community Church, 10:00 am in Johnstown, Colorado, followed by a funeral service. Internment will take place immediately following the service at Loveland Burial Park in Loveland, Colorado. The family invites all who attend to return to the church afterward for a reception.
