Odon Thompson

Biography It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Odon Thompson. Like a ripple on the water, his life touched many and we were blessed to have known him in this life. Odon, 84, was born on March 2, 1932 in Missouri. He was raised and went to school in Estes Park, Colorado. Odon joined the U. S. Navy during the Korean War and was deployed to areas around Japan. After 2 tours, he was Honorably Discharged and moved back to Estes Park. Odon helped his father paint, until he joined the Estes Park Police Department. He then transferred to the Del Norte Police Department, where he met and married Rosalie (Rose) Powell. Together, they moved to Estes Park where he rejoined the Police Department. They later moved to Greeley, where he worked for the Weld County Sherriff’s Dept. They settled in LaSalle, where they raised their family. He drove over the road trucks for several local businesses and also worked at Monfort Packing. In 1989, he moved to Evans, where he resided until his death. Odon is survived by his Children: Debra (Roger) Ibbotson, Niles, MI, Clifford (Celeste Jump)Thompson, Evans, CO and Robert (Torri Heimer) Thompson, Edgewater, CO; Grandchildren, Caleb, Daniel, Ben; Ex-Wife; Rose Thompson, Greeley, CO. A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, September 17, 2016, Foothills Gardens of Memory, Longmont, CO. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post #32. The family wishes to thank all who have sent us prayers and strength during this difficult time. We also give thanks to the many people who helped Odon in his final weeks of life, including the Centennial Heathcare Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Wounded Veterans Foundation or your local Police and Fire Departments.
