Richard Lewis Woolley
Apr 23, 1952 — Jul 25, 2019
Tribute
Rich Woolley of Longmont, Colorado, died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 25, 2019. He was 67 years old.
Born Richard Lewis Woolley on April 23, 1952 to Daniel Mason Woolley and Mary Ross Woolley in Burlington, Iowa, Rich was the third of four children.
A skilled arborist by trade, Rich had multiple and varied interests in life. He was an avid golfer, with dozens of friends both on and off the golf course. He frequently played poker in Longmont and also belonged to a local book club. He sometimes encountered individuals in need, and being Rich, he would put them to work and help them get their lives back in order. Rich devoured books and was reading “Jefferson’s Secrets” by Andrew Burstein at the time of his death.
Rich is survived by his new bride, Lily, of Longmont and his son, Jordan Anderson, of McKinleyville, California. He is also survived by his mother Mary, with whom he spoke nearly every day, and elder sister Carolyn (John) Gross, all of Iowa City, Iowa, his brother Michael “Red” of Glenwood Springs, Colorado and his sister Jeannine of Iowa. He also leaves behind seven nieces and nephews, and over a dozen great-nieces and great-nephews. Rich was greatly loved by many in his community and beyond.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 16, 2019 at 11 am in the chapel at Carroll-Lewellen Funeral and Cremation Services, 503 Terry St in Longmont, Colorado.
