Ronald “Ron” Roger Nats, age 91, of Longmont, Colorado, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Ron was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose life was defined by hard work, integrity, kindness, and an unwavering love for his family. Throughout his 91 years, he touched countless lives with his quiet strength, generous heart, and willingness to lend a helping hand whenever someone was in need.

Born in Denver, Colorado, on April 21, 1935, Ron witnessed extraordinary changes throughout his lifetime and embraced every chapter with resilience, wisdom, and gratitude. He built a life centered on faith, family, and service, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.

Ron graduated from Mullen High School before pursuing higher education throughout his adult life. He attended the University of Colorado, the Colorado School of Mines, Front Range Community College, and Colorado State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business. A lifelong learner, he believed education was a journey that never truly ended.

On April 23, 1960, Ron married the love of his life, Cathleen Madonna Hughes, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Denver. Together they shared 66 wonderful years of marriage, building a home filled with love, laughter, faith, and unwavering commitment. Their journey together took them from Denver to Berthoud, Loveland, and Longmont, Colorado, with several years spent in Rocklin, California.

Early in his career, Ron worked alongside his father laying tile, learning the value of craftsmanship and hard work. Those lessons became the foundation of a remarkable professional career spanning several industries. He worked in procurement and marketing with Hewlett-Packard from 1968 to 1979, served as Purchasing Manager for Nimbus Medical, owned and operated a Dr. Vinyl franchise and later as a Procurement Officer for the Colorado Department of Education until his retirement from state service in 1995.

Never one to slow down, Ron continued pursuing new opportunities. He served as Night Installation Manager for IBM, and as an owner and operator of Windstar Kennels in Weld County. As technology evolved, he embraced the digital world, becoming a social media manager, online reputation marketing and SEO specialist, and marketing manager, proving that it is never too late to learn something new or reinvent yourself.

While Ron’s professional accomplishments were many, his greatest achievement was his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Cathleen Nats; his daughter, Colleen Whitlow (James); his sons, Michael Nats, Patrick Nats (Denise), Timothy Nats (Susan), and Thomas Nats (Jenny); his grandchildren, Joshua Whitlow (Chloe), Tiffani Crawford (Andrew), Matthew Nats, Jamie Newkirk (Matthew), Jessica Hafner (Shelton), Kaitlin Nats, Anne Marie Nats, Christopher Nats, Kyler Nats (Liv), Jayden Nats, Ansley Nats, Hadley Nats, and Madalyn Nats; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Norah, Izabella, Harper, Myles, and Harlow.

Each of them was blessed by Ron’s guidance, encouragement, wisdom, and unconditional love. Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, they find comfort in the countless memories they shared and in knowing that his legacy lives on through every member of his family.

Ron was preceded in death by his beloved son, Robert Steven Nats; his infant twin daughters, Diane Marie and Anne Maria Nats; his parents, Roger Howard Nats and Edith Maggie Brinlee Nats; and many other loved ones who welcomed him into eternal peace.

A devoted Catholic throughout his life, Ron was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Snow Catholic Church. His family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Pastor Fr. Carlos Borja, Assistant Pastor Fr. Carlos Zepeda, and Assistant Pastor Fr. Franz Trauner for their spiritual guidance, friendship, and compassionate ministry to Ron over the years. His steadfast faith was a guiding force throughout his life and a source of strength for his family.

He was a lifelong member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Loveland Lodge No. 1051.

Those who knew Ron will remember his steady presence, gentle sense of humor, unwavering work ethic, and quiet wisdom. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—spending time with family, working with his hands, enjoying the outdoors, caring for his dogs, learning new technologies, and sharing stories from years gone by. Above all else, his family was his greatest pride, and every gathering, celebration, and ordinary day spent together was a treasured gift.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate physicians, nurses, caregivers, and staff at The Peaks Care Center and TRU Community Care for the exceptional care, kindness, and dignity they provided during Ron’s final days. Their unwavering compassion brought comfort not only to Ron but to his entire family.

Ronald Roger Nats will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His life was a testament to perseverance, faith, humility, and unconditional love. His example will continue to guide his family for years to come.

The funeral liturgy will be held at Carroll-Lewellen Funeral & Cremation Services, 503 Terry Street, Longmont, Colorado 80501, on August 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. A graveside service will immediately follow at Foothills Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 14241 North 107th Street, Longmont, Colorado 80504.

Family and friends are invited to gather to honor Ron’s life, share cherished memories, and celebrate an extraordinary man who meant so much to so many.
