Shirley Opal

Shirley M. Opal, 88, a longtime resident of both Boulder and Longmont, died on October 5, 2012 at the Peaks Care Center in Longmont She was born on July 26, 1924 in Rising City, Nebraska to Raymond P. and Vera Mae (Shadden) Fluharty. On April 23, 1943 she married Jerrold K. Opal in Columbia, South Carolina. He would proceed her in Death in 1978.Shirley is survived by her two sons, Kent Opal of Longmont, Bruce Opal of Fountain Hills, Arizona, as well as two daughters, Theresa Romero of Englewood, Colorado, and Paula Opal of Redwood City, California, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at 4:00 at Light of Christ Ecumencial Catholic Community at 1000 W. 15th Ave. in Longmont, Colorado.
