Mrs. Pratt was born October 8, 1947 in Clarinda, Iowa, the daughter of Robert Lee Marti and Hope Arlene (Fazio) Marti. She was raised in Tarkio, MO and Orlando, FL, where she graduated from Evans High School with honors in 1965. She attended the University of Colorado before marrying John Edwards in 1967 and having a daughter in 1975.
Mrs. Pratt moved to Longmont, CO in 1977 where she worked at the Pratt Agency. She married her husband, Ken Pratt, in 1980, and the two of them went on to build over a million square feet in commercial buildings and the Plaza Hotel. She, along with her husband, were actively involved in creating EDAL (Economic Development Association of Longmont) and they traveled to Japan in the 80s and early 90s to encourage tech business to the area.
A highlight of her life was hosting the Emperor and Empress of Japan at her home during their US visit in 1994, as well as being received by their Majesties at their private residence in Tokyo in 1996. Throughout her life she supported many worthy causes, including the March of Dimes, St Jude’s, A Woman’s Work, Longmont United Hospital Foundation (the Hope Cancer Center is named after her mother), and the University of Colorado to which she awarded multiple scholarships for many years. She will be remembered for her energy, her dedication to her community, her acute business sense, leadership, and management capabilities, as well as her strong faith.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her husband, Ken Pratt, in 1995. She is survived by her daughter, Nicolle Pratt of Longmont, CO; her brother, Phil Marti of Beaufort, SC; her grandchildren: Ian, Andre, and Ryder Justen-Pratt and Peyton Crowder, and Raven Vignati and her daughter, Viviana; her sister-in-law, Karen Pratt Kramer; and 6 nieces and their children, as well as countless friends who she’d made family. She will be dearly missed by all.
