DONNA K. CODY
Mount Carmel- Donna Kay Cody, 66, passed away on Thursday morning (July 11, 2019) at Johnson City Medical Center due to many complications following colon surgery. Donna was a member of The Promise Church. She graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School and was a graduate of Kingsport Nursing School. Donna worked at Indian Path Hospital and Bristol Surgery Center as a surgical nurse for many years until her health forced her to quit. She enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, and anything that involved her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jimmy” Strickler; father, James H. Cody, Sr.; her mother, Cora Lee Wells; a sister, Lisa Corneilson; brothers, Mark Cody and James Cody, Jr.; a nephew, Brandon Cody and a niece, Jamie Davis.
Donna Cody is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Wendy Lovelace and husband, Jonathan; grandsons, Jonathan D. Lovelace II and wife, Madi, Lucas R. Lovelace; the newest love in her life, her great grandson, Tucker R. Lovelace; sisters, Rhonda Rock (Kingsport, TN) and Tammy Bledsoe and husband, Guy (Hudson, FL); a brother, Wayne Cody and wife, Amy; her great friend, Brenda Rose along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Donna is already greatly missed and we find comfort in knowing that all of her pain and suffering here on earth is over. Romans 8:18 “For I reckon that the suffering of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the Glory which shall be revealed in us”. Her family would like to thank the 3rd floor nursing staff of Franklin Woods Hospital and to 2nd floor ICU at Johnson City Medical Center for the exceptional care and concern of Donna.
A visitation will take place on Sunday (July 14, 2019) from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at The Promise Church or friends may also call anytime at the residence of the daughter, Wendy Lovelace. A funeral service will take place on Sunday (July 14, 2019) at 4 p.m. at The Promise Church with Pastor Jonathan Lovelace, Rev. Michael Vicars, and Rev. Phillip Christian, officiating. A graveside service will be held on Monday (July 15, 2019) at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery. Family and friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m. to go in procession. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Promise Church Building Fund, 101 Kings Mountain Drive, Church Hill, TN 37642.
