James Edward Horton

James Edward Horton, age 61, of Surgoinsville, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at his home in Caney Valley while under hospice care. He will be greatly missed by his sons and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Sue Horton; and sister, Evelyn Russell. He is survived by his 3 sons, Robert Horton (Rachel Phillips), Donnie Horton (Amy Williams) and David Horton (Angel Desmarais); 5 grandchildren, Lydia Phillips, Joseph Voight, Brock Williams, Braxton Williams and Kinsley Williams; sister, Jan Christian, Polly Jones (Dale), Helen Mosely (Ron) and Anna Ruth Horton; brother, Thomas Horton (Deb); brother-in-law, Ken Russell; several nieces, nephews and extended family. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. Graveside services will follow at Jack Horton Family Cemetery located at 2729 Caney Valley Rd. with Pastor Layton Bentley officiating.
