Jeffery Dwayne Elkins, 61, of Church Hill went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Jeffery was born on September 24, 1957 in Greenville, Tennessee. He is a graduate of Bulls Gap High School. After high school he went on to earn his degree in Theology from Willmington School of the Bible of Liberty University. Jeffery proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He worked at the Hawkins County Press for 24 years. He was saved at an early age and attended Greenvale Baptist Church. Jeffery’s greatest joy in life was being a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Jeffery is preceded in death by his father, Dwayne Elkins; mother, Eunice Johnson; and step mother, Margaret Elkins.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 21 years, Karen Michele Elkins; daughters, Alayna Presnell (of the home), Amber Edwards, Jessica McVey; son, Seth Elkins; 6 grandchildren; brother, Mark Elkins; sister, Sherry Elkins; one niece and one nephew.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 4, 2019 from 2pm to 4pm at Carter Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Joe Shelton officiating.
A military graveside service will be held at 1:45pm on Monday, August 5, 2019 at Mountain Home National Cemetery with American Legion Hammond Post #3/265 providing military honors. Those wishing to attend the graveside are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:30pm.
