John W. Hicks

John W. Hicks, age 83, of Kingsport, passed away following an extended illness on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was a veteran of the United States Military having proudly served his country in the Navy. He was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by his family. He was preceded in death by his father, James B. Hicks; mother, Daisy Hicks; sister, Inez Aesque; and brothers, Claude Hicks, Joe Hicks and Jack Hicks. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Julia (Judy) Hicks; daughter, Lena Hicks; 4 sons, James Hicks and wife, Robin, David Hicks, Steven Hicks and Chad Hicks; 7 granddaughters; 1 grandson; 5 great-grandsons; 2 great-granddaughters; brothers, Roy Hicks; sister, Peggy Trent; special nephew, Glenn (Kelly) Light of New Bern, NC; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
