Larry Taylor, 78, of Church Hill went to be with the Lord early Sunday morning June 23, 2019 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He attended Elm Springs UMC and later was a member of Tree of Life Ministries.
He was the only son of the late William Eugene and Grace Boyd Taylor. Larry was employed by Kingsport Press for several years, but his passion was driving his eighteen wheeler. He drove for Mor-Flo Co. as a coast to coast driver. Larry was a loving and giving person.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Salley Taylor; nephew, Johnathan Taylor Dykes.
Survivors include his wife, Charlene Duncan Taylor; son, Larry Scott Taylor and wife Lisa; granddaughter, Shyanne Taylor; two sisters who loved him dearly and were his caregivers, Betty Taylor Ward and husband Ural, and Joan Taylor; special friend, Harold Tucker; special niece, Angela Ward Pruett and husband Payton; special nephew, Aaron Hartsock; great-niece, Zoe Hartsock; two step-daughters, Lisa Hooven and husband Ed, and Shannon Salyer and husband Chad; along with several step-grandchildren, one step great grandchild, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
The family of Larry Taylor will receive friends from 12 to 1:30 PM Thursday, June 27, 2019, at the Carter- Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 PM with Rev. Bill Porter officiating. The graveside committal service will follow in the Elm Springs Cemetery, Church Hill. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
