Linda Hoard
d. June 8, 2026
Linda Hoard, age 78 of Kingsport, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 8, 2026. Linda was born on November 22, 1947, in Kingsport, TN to Eldridge and Sallie Lyons. On December 22, 1967, Linda married the love of her life and best friend, Phil Hoard, and after 52 years of a beautiful life together and raising their family, Phil preceded her in death in 2020.
Linda loved her family and she was a devout member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church for many decades. Linda enjoyed sewing, creating different kinds of art and crafts, and gardening. Linda sewed many items throughout her life, but the most important threads she sewed are the threads of love; these threads will never tear or fray.
Lind was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Phil Hoard; and one son, Phillip Sherman Hoard Jr. Those left to cherish her memory and testimony are her daughter, Selina “Smuggs” Hamilton; son, Walter Scott Hoard; grandchildren, Tyler, Alexis, Brandon, Quavis, and Rylan; great grandchildren, Kayden, Brexten, Bryson, Braesen, Lil’ Phillip, Astoria, and Cassie; one sister, Jeanette Maxwell; and many loving nieces, nephews, and other family members.
The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to the staff of Gentiva Hospice.
There will be a memorial service held at Carter-Trent Funeral Home Kingsport on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 11:00 am with Rev. Melvin Conley, Rev. Lester Lattany and Pastor Pam Hoard officiating. A inurnment service will follow at Mount Home National Cemetery at 2:00 pm. Those wishing to attend the inurnment service are asked to meet at Mountain Home National Cemetery at 1:45 pm.
