Linda Overbay 77, of Church Hill passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late James Thomas Churn and Ruth Heinz Churn. She was a member of Providence Church of Church Hill. Linda worked at Holston Valley Medical Center in surgery for 33 years.
In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Eddie Overbay; sister, Nancy Klimek; brothers Bobby Churn and Tommy Churn.
Linda enjoyed most spending time with her children and in her later years her grandchildren and her best friend, Barbara Seabolt.
After retirement she also enjoyed weekly dinner dates with her group of friends from surgery at Holston Valley.
Survivors include her daughter, Laura Jennings and her husband Tom; sons, John Overbay and his wife Linda, Paul Overbay, and Brian Overbay and his wife Lisa; sister, Ruth Ann Boyce; brother, Donnie Churn; brother-in law, Tom Langrell; eight grandchildren and two step-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Amedisys Home Health, Amedisys Hospice Services, and Visiting Angels.
Special thanks to Amanda Bradley, Heather McMillan, Pastor Rick Dinkins, and Cherry Smith for taking such good care of Mrs. Overbay.
The family of Linda Overbay will receive friends from 3 to 5 pm Friday, December 6, 2019, at Carter Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill. A memorial service will follow at 5 pm with Pastor Rick Dinkins officiating.
