Mary Rebekah Leatherwood
Sep 7, 1946 — Sep 2, 2023
"For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit" (Colossians 2:5)
Mary Rebekah “Becky” Leatherwood, was carried away home September 2nd, 2023, in Kingsport, TN surrounded by her family. She was 76 years old. A life-long resident of Texas, she’d recently relocated to Mount Carmel, Tennessee in July 2023 to be near her grandchildren. Born September 7th, 1946, Becky was adopted and raised by Texas Justice of the Peace Carl E. Moon.
Becky spent her life dedicated to her family on their farm in Southeast Texas where she raised kids and crops, and tended livestock. She loved to laugh, she loved to cook, and take care of her family, and was always quick with a sharp-witted remark in response to any comment. She especially loved her children and grandchildren dearly. Becky was married to Tommy Leatherwood, also of Texas, for 35 years. Together they shared a son, Justin, and many wonderful memories together over that time.
She is survived by her son Justin Leatherwood of San Antonio, Texas, his wife Nichole Leatherwood of Mount Carmel, Tennessee, and her granddaughters Shelby Leatherwood, of Clemson, South Carolina, and Amara and Emily Leatherwood both of Mount Carmel, TN. She is also survived by brother Dale Madeley of Texas. She is preceded in death by her son Robert “Bobby” Fowler, and daughter Lisa Gail Fowler Eaves. Funeral services were held at Carter Trent Funeral Home, with her immediate family in attendance. Becky was interred in the beautiful Church Hill Memory Gardens, Church Hill, Tennessee on September 6th, 2023. She is loved dearly, and will be missed more than she can ever know.
