Paul “Willis” Sims, age 68, of Church Hill passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday morning of July, 23, 2022. Willis was born in Sullivan County and resided most of his life in Church Hill. He retired from W&L Construction after 45 years in 2019. Before his declining health Willis enjoyed attending House of Refuge Baptist Church in Gate City, VA, where he became saved and baptized.
He was preceded in death by his parents Garnet and Marie Sims; Grandson, Mark Harrell Jr.; Brother, Vernon Sims ; sisters, Reba Long, Mildred Quesenberry, and Sylvia Dockery.
Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Sue Sims; Daughter, Samantha Vaughan (Stacy); Grandson, Christopher Vaughan; Brothers, Buck Sims (Carol), Junior Sims (Betty); Sister, Linda Manis (Harold); several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm with Ministers Jerry Smith and Johnny Smith officiating. Graveside service will be held following the funeral at McPeek cemetery.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Terry Davidson, Tommy Davidson, Larry Ketron, Sherman Hickman, Daniel Chess, Wendell McPeek, and Curt Taylor. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.cartertrent.com.
