Thales Earl Ward

Mr. Thales Earl Ward, 83, of Surgoinsville was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at Signature HealthCare following a short illness. He was the son of the late Simon and Eliza Ward. He was a member of First Baptist Church Surgoinsville. Thales was a hard working farmer for years and retired from AFG. He loved to go fishing and camping on the river with family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Elsie Bass Ward; sister, Louise Shanks; brother, Charles Ray Ward. Survivors include sisters, Evelyn Stewart and her husband Bill and Davis Ann Barrett and her husband Billy; brothers, Larry Ward and Jack Ward and his wife Glenda; sister-in-law, Carolyn Christian and her husband Mike; several nieces and nephews. The family of Thales Earl Ward will receive friends from 1 to 3 PM Saturday, July 13, 2019, in the Carter Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill. The funeral service will follow at 3 PM with Rev. Tecky Hicks officiating. The graveside committal service will follow in the Hawkins County Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
