Vivian Sue Adkins, age 84, of Mount Carmel, TN, entered into God’s kingdom on Friday, March 17, 2023. She was born on December 7, 1938, in Kingsport, but lived most of her life in Hawkins County. She was a devoted Christian servant since she was saved at age 12. She was a member of Calvary Lighthouse Baptist Church and never missed an opportunity to tell people about the Lord.
Waiting to greet her are her parents, Willie Dee and Pearl (Hammonds) Linkous; first husband, Roy Hensley; sister, Elma Bledsoe; brothers, Waymond, Dennis and “Rick” Linkous; step-son, Hugh Adkins.
Left to cherish her memory include her husband of 39 years, Alvis Adkins; daughters, Kay Woods (Darrell) and Karen Reed (David “Peach”); grandchildren, Chris Skeens (Kim) and Josh Skeens; great-grandchildren, Logan and Zoey Skeens; sisters, Carolyn Bland, Debi Wright (Hugh) and Iva Peterson (Jeff); brothers, Tim Hite (Elizabeth) and Wilbur Hite (Kathy); special sisters-in-law, Susie Linkous, Phyllis Cross (Carroll) and Joan “Sue” Hensley; step-children, Lori Simpson, Billy Adkins (Michelle) and Cynthia Estes; 11 additional grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation to celebrate her life will be held from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. A funeral service will follow in the chapel with Pastor Randall Stapleton officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Morning Star Cemetery. All those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:00 pm to go in procession.
Pallbearers will be: Darrell Bland, Denny Linkous, Waymond Linkous, James Earl Linkous, Cody Estes and Parker Estes.
