Ada Marie Wilson, age 96, of Surgoinsville went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 24, 2014. She was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and a 56 year member of the First Freewill Baptist Church of Surgoinsville. She retired from the Hawkins County Memorial Hospital and enjoyed helping others throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cale and Nellie Bass Gilliam; husband, Edgar Wilson; 5 brothers, Junior, Sam, John, Ed and Guy Gilliam; and 3 sisters, Mamie Clifton, Maxie Casteel and Lena Greer.
She is survived by her daughter, Mildred (Don) Drinnon; grandchild, Chad (Amanda) Drinnon of Church Hill; 2 great-grandchildren, Alexander and Madison Drinnon; sisters, Gladys Smith, Rachel Ryans, Esta Buttry and Ruby Mabe; sister-in-law, Mable Gilliam; several nieces, nephews and a special prayer partner and friend, Irene Manis.
The family would like to thank Caris Healthcare and Hospice Staff; Janet, Bonnie and special caregiver, Sally Spears for their love and care through this difficult time.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm on Monday, October 27, 2014 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jesse Hartgrove and Rev. Ed Maynard officiating. Interment will follow at the Surgoinsville Methodist Church Cemetery.
