Alvin Lynn Monroe Sr.
Nov 26, 1949 — Apr 3, 2026
Alvin Lynn Monroe Sr, 76 of Kingsport, passed peacefully at his home surrounded by the people he loved the most, on April 3, 2026. Alvin was born on November 26, 1949, in Kingsport to Alvin and Betty Monroe. He served in the United States Air Force, and he retired from Eastman after working there his entire adult life.
Alvin was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, whose whole world revolved around his tight-knit little family that kept growing. As his little family grew, the happier he became. He loved his many cats, music, and life in general. Alvin was a man who measured his life, not in accomplishments, but in relationships.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Alvin Lynn Monroe Jr. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Betsy Monroe; six grandchildren, Whitney Ward (Jonathan), Michaela Cooley (Tanner), Cody Carter (Katelyn), Jacob Carter, Kevin Spivey (Gloria), and Jackson Trent; six great grandchildren, Abram, Kean, Harvin, Oaklynn, Jaylynn, and River; and many loving friends. He was a lifelong mentor and friend to many. He will forever be missed.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 9, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Carter Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Jerrod Manning officiating. A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Tanner Cooley, Jonathan Ward, Cody Carter, Kevin Spivey, and Jacob Carter will be serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 am.
