Alvonia E. Culbertson

Alvonia E. "Bess" Culbertson, age 85, of Nickelsville, VA, born December 17, 1930 passed away on Monday, September 5, 2016 peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe H. Culbertson; parents, C.P. and Lula Williams; grandson, Michael Dewayne Moore; sister, Ellen Rose; and brothers, Junior Williams, Cecil Williams and Bruce Williams. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Dorton; sons, Jerry Culbertson and Jim Culbertson (Joann); grandchildren, Tim Moore (Tammy), Elizabeth Hurd (Adam), Jennifer Collins (Cochy), Jeremy Culbertson (Shannon) and Laura Templeton (Mark); step-granddaughter, Haley Lane (Chris); step-grandchildren, Aiden, Avery and Jackson; great-grandchildren; Santanna Osborne, Matthew Ison, Michael Moore, Blake Moore, Brittany Collins, Kayla Collins, Kelsey Huff, Jocie Hunley, Caleb Culbertson, and Jase Culbertson; great great-grandchildren, Jaiden Taylor and Kyleigh Ison; brothers and sisters, Carnell Williams (Bobbie, Wayne Williams, (Barbara), Bufford Williams (Joyce), Mary Salyers (Bob), Norma Williams and Irene Williams; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Friday, September 9, 2016 at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City, VA. Funeral services will begin at 7:00 pm with Pastor Jimmy Hawkins and Dr. Todd Cassell officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Culbertson Cemetery in Nickelsville, VA.
